DM Young Artists’ Theatre, Inc is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are a children’s theater group comprised mainly of student performers primarily focusing on social awareness plays and musicals which was founded as UU Children’s Theater in 2007 at the First Unitarian Church of Des Moines. Our production offices and rehearsal studios are located at Des Moines Onstage and our scene shop is located at Noce.  Main stage productions are performed at Des Moines Social Club’s Kum & Go Theater.  Donations are tax deductible.

We are what you would call a theater co-op where everyone from parents and friends to community members pitch in to make it all come together. We also work closely with other social organizations, schools, children’s charities and theater groups in the Greater Des Moines Metro Community.

It is our goal to provide an environment where any child can experience the transformational magic of live theater! From script writing, warm-up activities, theater games, improvisation, competitions and scene work to full-scale theatrical productions, young actors have the opportunity to develop their skills of concentration, deductive reasoning, spontaneous expression, creativity and self-confidence.
